**Temperature Rating**: First off, check the temperature rating. You want a bag that’ll keep you warm for the conditions you’ll be camping in. If you’re going in summer, a lighter bag is fine, but for winter, go for something rated for colder temps.

**Type of Insulation**: Decide between down or synthetic insulation. Down is super warm and packs down small, but it’s not great if it gets wet. Synthetic is bulkier but dries faster and keeps you warm even when damp.

**Size and Fit**: Make sure to pick a bag that fits you well. If you’re too cramped, you’ll be uncomfortable. Try to find one that allows some wiggle room but isn’t too big, or you’ll lose heat.

**Shape**: Think about the shape of the bag. Mummy bags are great for warmth and packability, but if you want more space, a rectangular bag might be better for you.

**Weight**: If you’re backpacking, weight matters. Look for lightweight options that won’t weigh you down on the trail. But if you’re car camping, a heavier bag might be okay.

**Features**: Check for extra features like hoods, draft collars, and zippers. These can make a big difference in comfort and warmth, especially on chilly nights.

**Budget**: Set a budget before you start shopping. You can find good options at various price points, but don’t skimp too much if you want something durable and warm.

**Reviews and Recommendations**: Look up reviews or ask friends for recommendations. Hearing from others who’ve used a bag can help you find the best fit for your needs.
