**Feel the Ribs**: You should be able to feel your pet’s ribs without too much pressure. If you can’t feel them at all, that might be a sign they’ve got a little extra padding.

**Look at the Waist**: When you look down at your pet from above, there should be a noticeable waistline. If they’re more of a round shape all over, they might be packing on some pounds.
