**Feel the Ribs**: You should be able to feel your pet's ribs without too much pressure. If you can’t feel them at all, they might be carrying a few extra pounds.

**Look at the Waist**: When you look from above, your pet should have a noticeable waistline. If their body looks more like a straight line or a sausage, they might be overweight.
