**Stay Calm**: Just take a deep breath and don’t panic. Most snakes are more scared of you than you are of them. Just back away slowly and give it some space.

**Observe from a Distance**: If you can, take a moment to watch it from a safe distance. It’s cool to see wildlife, just make sure you’re not too close!

**Don’t Try to Handle It**: Seriously, leave it alone. Snakes can bite if they feel threatened, and it’s not worth the risk to try and pick it up or move it.

**Take a Detour**: If you can, just go around it. Snakes usually don’t hang around for long, so a little patience can go a long way.

**Make Some Noise**: If you’re hiking with friends, make a little noise to alert the snake that you’re there. Most of the time, they’ll slither away when they hear you coming.

**Know Your Snakes**: Brush up on your local snakes! Knowing which ones are harmless and which ones are venomous can really help you feel more at ease.
