To season a cast-iron skillet, start by giving it a good scrub with soap and water to remove any old seasoning or rust. Dry it completely, then apply a thin layer of vegetable oil or flaxseed oil all over the skillet, inside and out. Make sure to wipe off any excess oil so it’s not too greasy. Preheat your oven to around 375°F (190°C), then place the skillet upside down on the middle rack. You can put a baking sheet on the rack below to catch any drips. Bake it for about an hour, then turn off the oven and let the skillet cool inside. Repeat this process a couple of times for a really good non-stick surface!
